DescriptionCustomer ReviewsA Tip About The Ooze and Ice MakerFirst, I saw that one reviewer has a uncontrollable with leaking filters when used in an older Frigidaire. I've had no such problem with the original filter and two replacements that I've installed. (And yuck! to see what those filters have removed from the bishopric water!) So, maybe higher than normal water pressure is the problem and could possibly be regulated. Impartial a thought.My Rating:The filters are 5-star performers but even at Amazon's lower price, I still esteem them "pricey", so I dropped a star.My Tip:I kept my last filter in until performance (delivered water course rate) had diminished considerably. It was sort of an experiment in economy. I was surprised when my ice maker started to jam with the under-sized "cubes" (they are in truth shaped like half of a large thick coin) resulting from the slower water run through the old filter. One or more of the ice ejector cogs would get jammed with one of the "runt" cubes. What obviously happens is... New composition is faulty and leaks constantly I have had my Frigidare refrigerator for about 5 years now. The filters Euphemistic pre-owned to have a thick housing over the two smaller cylinders and it worked wonderfully. I never experienced any problems with those filters. About 2 years ago they misused the design taking away the outer housing leaving only the two smaller cylinders. Since then I have been through 8 filters in two years. When you stand the outlet hole and blow into the inlet hole, you can see the water spirt out of the side of the cartridge. It doesn't always befall at the top seal; however, many times the leak is in the plastic but you can see where the seam glue has run down to the spot where it's leaking. It appears that the paste they are using is dissolving the weak plastic and causing it to leak. I'm not sure what you can do about it but I just recover my receipts and take them back about every 2-4 months when they fail. It's a pain but the manufacturer won't do anything about it. I just won't buy another Frigidare in... Adding to be revealed reviews To further the make known review discussion:Just called Frigidaire/Electrolux to ask about the leaky redesign. They cannot tell me whether what they sales-clerk on THEIR OWN WEBSITE is the original design (2 cylinders enclosed in a plastic rectangle) or the impaired (2 cylinders not enclosed). Customer service assured me that the part would fit; when reiterating I was caring about the 2 cylinder design and not the fit they suggested going to Lowe's to look at the part available. Want to scale from Amazon as $10 cheaper- note the customer photo is the original rectangle and Amazons photo is the powerless 2 cylinder design.**I don't think the company is concerned about the flaw.** A suggestion: the world of letters writing campaign to the company- companies do seem to respond better to something in writing (it is visible mainstay they ignored the consumer if they don't act). Maybe involve your local news; many like unsound product reports/warnings. Let's ramp up the bad publicity and make them... |
